The Legal Reserve Building · 1935–1943

An insurance man buys the building

1939

In September 1939 Houston insurance man Lester A. Miller purchased the building from Houston National Bank. The parcel’s dimensions in the sale story, 200 feet on Harvard by 132 on Eleventh, match the property’s condominium legal description to the foot, a perfect chain of identity across half a century of records.

Miller’s Home Life Assurance Company made the building its Houston home office, and by 1940 the press had a new name for the corner: the Legal Reserve Building. The second life had a proprietor.
