The War Apartments and Midcentury · 1943–1965
Offered for sale
1965
In October and November 1965 the whole complex was offered for sale: a three-story building of 3,842 square feet per floor, over a one-story shop row of nearly 6,000 square feet, “presently leased.” The ads suggested “possible conversion to apartments,” a use the upper floors had in fact been serving since 1943.
The listing closed the building’s mid-century chapter and opened its quietest one. The measurements in the ad remain useful to researchers today.
