Houston’s oldest DeMolay chapter turns 45

1966

In November 1966, Reagan Chapter of the Order of DeMolay marked its 45th anniversary as Houston’s oldest chapter, with more than 400 members and a claim to second place statewide. The chapter had been founded in 1921, in the lodge’s first hall at this corner, and had grown up on the temple’s second floor.

The boys’ order that won state degree-work championships in the temple’s golden age was, by the mid-sixties, an institution in its own right.
