A wolf makes the corner famous
1908
The corner’s first appearance in the Houston press had nothing to do with architecture. In September 1908 the Chronicle reported a wolf raiding a henhouse here, with eighteen hens “pulled from the roost and eaten.”
Twenty-two years later the same lots held a $110,700 marble-trimmed temple. Every landmark starts somewhere.
