The lodge halts for a young brother

In October 1918, Worshipful Master W. H. Lynn called a special meeting “at the temple, corner of Eleventh and Harvard” for a single purpose: to march the lodge to the funeral of Oscar C. Grubbs, the 21-year-old manager of the Taylor telephone exchange. His brother was away in military service. Members of two other Houston lodges joined the procession.

The same year, Heights voters approved consolidation with Houston. James G. Donovan, the Heights city attorney who negotiated the merger, was himself a Reagan Lodge member. The formal transfer of city affairs came on March 1, 1918.
